Last 24 hours saw an addition of as many as 38,902 new Covid-19 infections in India so far in the past 24 hours, the Federal Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Family Welfare said on Sunday, taking the number of total infected to 1,077,618.
The ministry has confirmed that 543 patients infected with COVID-19 have died in the last 24 hours and the number of deaths due to the epidemic in India has reached 26,816.
As of Sunday, the number of COVID-19 infected patients returning home in India has reached 677,423, while 373,379 people are still infected. In the worst-affected India state of Maharashtra, coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 3937 people as of Saturday.
According to the Medical Research Council of India (ICMR), 1,34,333,742 samples have been tested for COVID-19 infection in India till July 18, out of which 3,061,024 people were confirmed to have COVID-19 infection by Saturday.
