Schools reopens in South Korea amid Covid-19
South Korea have re-opened schools from Wednesday for the first time following strict protocols as the country prepares for a new normal routine amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Returning to normal routine is not easy and safe at this time, as two students in Seoul were found to have infected from the virus and were asked to leave immediately and return home.
Though two students didn’t attend school on Wednesday, authorities have decided to close all schools temporarily as students may have come in contact with the two infected students earlier, according to the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education.
South Korean health authorities on Wednesday reported 32 new cases, the first daily highest record above 30 in more than a week. Students were allowed to enter schools only after having their temperatures checked and hands sanitized on Wednesday morning.
Students and teachers wore masks in classrooms whereas some schools have also installed plastic partitions at each student’s desk, according to the Education Ministry.
South Korea’s new school year was supposed to start in early March, but it was delayed due to pandemic and about 5.4 million students have been taking classes online since lockdown.
The country has confirmed more than 11,000 coronavirus cases, including 263 deaths. And the decision to re-open schools might not be a good step amid coronavirus says the health experts.
