Happy Birthday to Drukpa Yongdzin

Druk Amitabha Mountain celebrated the Birthday of Drukpa Yongdzin yesterday on 18th April with gifts and cake cutting. His Eminence Drukpa Yongdzin Rinpoche also known as Decho Yongdzin Rinpoche is one of the principal reincarnate lamas of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage. Being regarded as an emanation of Tibet’s celebrated yogi, Milarepa, he holds a high position in Tibetian Buddhism, especially within Drukpa lineage.

He is one of the Four Pillars of the Drukpa Kagyu along with His Holiness Gyalwang Drukchen Rinpoche, Khamtrul Rinpoche, and Choegon Rinpoche.

The First Drukpa Yongdzin Rinpoche was Lhatsewa Ngawang Zangpo born in 1546 and passed away in 1615. Drukpa Yongdzin Rinpoche the VIII, was a mahasiddha and tertön.

 

In addition to holding the lineage of the Drukpa Kagyu, the previous Drukpa Yongdzin Rinpoche, Ngagi Wangpo, was also a treasure revealer who revealed treasures of Padmasambhava.

During the regime of Ninth  Decho Yongdzin Rinpoche, There were two incarnations. One who died in a car accident in 1995.

The rebirth of the incarnation who passed in 1995 has been recognized as the Tenth Drukpa Yongdzin by Gyalwang Drukchen Rinpoche aka Gyalwang Drukpa. 

Yongdzin Rinpoche is one of the principle lineage holders of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage, he and his disciples have great faith in the Nyingma lineage.

The Enthronement ceremony of kyabgon Drukpa Yongdzin was held in 2009 at Himis Monastery in Ladakh. He was recognised as reincarnation at age of 8. Two years later he got enthroned. 

Yongdzin Rinpoche is one of the great unconventional masters known as Mahasiddha. Anyone who has spent time with Yongdzin Rinpoche has experienced his extraordinary spaciousness and openness. We, the Dharma Television team wish him a very happy birthday and long, healthy life.
