16-member team including members of Bahraini royal family has arrived in Nepal to climb the highest peak, Mount Everest.
Chairman of the Seven Summit Treks, Mingma Sherpa, who is managing the ascent, said that the crew, including members of Bahraini royal family, arrived in Kathmandu today on a special flight.
Team arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport at 7.30 pm. After staying at Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu for five days, they will go to Gorkha and return to Kathmandu after staying there for five days. After that, team is scheduled to go to the Everest base camp.
Earlier in the day, Nepali Embassy in Bahrain issued a statement stating that team had left for Nepal by a special military plane of Bahrain Defense Force at 9.30 am local time.
Crew includes members of Bahraini royal family, Sheikh Mohammed Hamad, Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Royal Guard, 13 Bahrainis serving in Defense Forces and three British nationals. This team will stay in Nepal for about 80 days.
Team will also provide 2,000 doses of Astragene vaccine against corona virus to the residents of Samagaun in Chumanubri Gaonpalika-1 of Gorkha.
Team was met by Nepali Ambassador to Bahrain Padam Sundas, Second Secretary of Mission Aruna Ghising and other members of the embassy.
On Bahraini side, Commanding Officer of Royal Guard Training School, Brigadier Saad Gharli Mubarak also bade farewell.
Team successfully climbed Lobuche Peak and Manaslu Himal in October 2020.
Nepal's Ambassador to Bahrain Padam Sundas expressed happiness over the recent efforts being made by Bahrain in mountaineering to deepen the ties between Nepal and Bahrain.
