Gunmen have killed at least 40 people in Niger. Authorities say unidentified gunmen killed him Sunday night, according to local time.
People were killed in separate incidents in Tahoua, in the western part of the country bordering neighboring Mali.
A security official gave the information on condition of anonymity, although government officials did not provide sufficient information about the incident and damage.
A large number of attackers on motorcycles set fire to houses. Some houses have also been burnt due to the fire. Also last week, 58 people were killed when suspected terrorists attacked the area.
There has been a recent rise in violence in Niger. According to various international human rights organizations and the media, civilians as well as security personnel were killed in the attack.
