BBC journalist Aung Thur, who was arrested while reporting in Myanmar, has been released. Thur was released on Monday, BBC reported.
BBC journalist Thur was arrested while reporting outside a court in Napier. According to BBC, Thur, a journalist with BBC Burmese Service, was arrested on Friday, March 19, by plainclothes men.
Forty journalists have been arrested in Myanmar since the military rule began on February 1. There army took power and declared a one-year state of emergency.
Military has also revoked licenses of five media companies. Similarly, magazines have stopped printing. Last Friday, army took away another journalist along with Aung Thur. People who arrested Thur had come in a van.
BBC confirmed on Monday that they had been released. But no further details have been released.
United Nations says at least 149 people have been killed in Myanmar's military coup. However, the actual number is estimated to be higher than this.
March 14 is considered the most violent day of violence there. BBC reports that 38 people lost their lives that day.
