Australia's international border will remain closed until next June. Government has decided to extend the border closure decision, which has been implemented before.
Health Minister Greg Hunt said on Tuesday that decision to close the border was in line with human health. Coronavirus epidemic has closed the border in Australia since March 2020. "There is still an obligation to stop air circulation other than the urgent ones," said Minister Hunt.
Health Minister Greg Hunt clarified that only foreign nationals are barred from entering Australia and that their nationals are allowed to come after fulfilling strict criteria. Officials say they have been discouraged from leaving Australia for reasons other than special and urgent reasons.
As of Tuesday, 28,986 people had been infected with coronavirus and 909 had died in Australia.
