Taiwan has condemned China for rejecting an agreement to set up a representative office in South American country of Guinea under Chinese pressure.
Tensions have risen since Guinea's foreign ministry rejected the agreement, saying there was a misunderstanding about the agreement to set up an office in Taiwan.
However, Taiwan's foreign ministry said in a statement that it had agreed to set up a representative office in Guinea.
China's foreign ministry called on Guyana to immediately revoke its agreement with Taiwan and correct the mistake.
"Taiwan is part of the one-China policy," said Wan Wenwin, a spokesman for China's foreign ministry.
China has claimed that Taiwan is part of the one-China policy, while Taiwan, which has an independent government, claims to be an independent country.
