Terton 'migyur Dorje was born in the Lhatok region of Kham. In his early years, he had visions of Padmasambhava, Karma Pakshi, Hayagriva, Vajra Varahi and Mahakala.
Choying Dorjee named him Rigzin Mingyur Dorje Drakpo Nuden Tsal. Rigdzin Mingyur Dorje Drakpo Nuden Tsal is one of the twenty-one Great Treasure Revealers called 'Nuden' who 'Endowed with Power'. His terma teachings have the particularly great blessing and effectiveness.
He also became a learned and highly accomplished master through his studies of Sutra, Tantra and the general sciences. In accordance with Guru Rinpoche’s prediction, Yongey Mingyur Dorjee revealed the complete teaching cycle of Guru Dorje Droll.
Thus this caused the Kagyu teachings to again shine like the rising sun. In the later part of Mingyur Rinpoche's life, he followed the yogic lifestyle of a mahasiddha.
He subjugated many Samaya violators, evil influences and obstructing forces who harm the Buddha Dharma and sentient beings. In addition, Yongey Mingyur Dorje’s other terma teachings included Guru Dorjee Drollo, the longevity sadhana known as Tsedrub Tabshey Khajor and the Shedro Padma Vajra.
Yongé Mingyur Dorje brought immense benefit to the Buddhadharma and beings. The background teachings, the teaching notes and the instruction texts of Dorje Trolö and Padmavajra, as well as the life story of the Great Terton, all elucidate how if one has "the three volumes of Yongey" in one's home, it will stop all kinds of human illness, livestock illness, and sudden epidemics, and how if one has even a tiny piece of an object from the yak-hair tent or the house where one of these termas was decoded, one will be protected from disease and contagious illness.
Rigdzin Mingyur Dorje Drakpo Nuden Tsal extracted the termas from within Pabang, Went by unimpeded miraculous power to the Turquoise Lake Dzodzi, Where he first opened the door of this profound terma.
Rigdzin Mingyur Dorje was supplicated as the messenger of Orgyen. As it says, this sadhana puja of Dorje Trolö was a terma revealed by the Vidyadhara Mingyur Dorje at the Turquoise Lake of Dzodzi. He also discovered parts of it at the Gyalgab lake in Kham, and other places. It is of incredible benefit and effectiveness.
As is taught in this quote from the Primordial Secret, through simply seeing this terma teaching, obstacles will be pacified.
If one recites it, negative circumstances will be averted, and if one meditates it with diligence, one can realize the level of vidyadhara of the rainbow body. Thus, whosoever practices will experience a gradual decrease in the afflictions and will be liberated from samsara, the ocean of suffering.
Moreover, historical accounts and stories passed down orally by the local people about the effectiveness of this terma teaching are still being told.
In these dark times, different kinds of harm are arising, in particular from powerful malevolent spirits and broken-vow demons. It is taught that Dorje Trolö is like a timely rain to avert injury from them.
The vase-shaped torma in the centre is the shrine torma representing the lama. It is immediately surrounded by five tormas for the five classes of dakinis.
The large red torma to its right, immediately surrounded by eight small tormas, is the shrine torma of the yidam Dorje Trolö with his retinue of the eight classes of wrathful deities. The large red torma to its left, immediately surrounded by many small tormas is the shrine torma of the Dharma protector Düdgön Trakché with his retinue of eight powerful ex-demons.
In this mandala, the Master from Urgyen, Padmasambhava, arises in the form of the wrathful guru in order to tame and bind under oath demons, transgressors of Samaya, and powerful evil forces.
This practice has particularly strong blessings and power for degenerate times. The second day after opening the mandala has been completed.
Thus, with that purpose, the monastery has been continuing with the week-long of the Dorje Trolö Accomplishment Puja. Today is also the 29th of the last Tibetan month, there were special events in the afternoon.
The first of those, at the beginning of the afternoon session, was the offering of the "serkhyem" [literally: golden drink]. This is a preliminary done by practitioners to clear the path before engaging in a wrathful activity. For example, if you wish to shoot an arrow to the east, it is like saying to anyone in the arrow's path "Nobody stay here, get out of the way immediately!"
As it says in the serkhyem text:
"If you're above, pull up your legs!
If you're below, duck your head and avert your eyes!
If you're in between, step aside -- left or right!
Nobody gets in the way of the torma!"
Next comes "Offering the Dö." Karma Chakmé said, "Offering a dö is the same as offering an amendment mandala." And, in the "Clearly Arranged Detailed Explanation of the Amendment and Its Stages of Meditation," "dö" is defined as follows: "All possible appearances are set out, or arranged as the dö. Offering the dö is that which clears away gathered misfortune and negative circumstances. Thus, for the yogin impairment and breakage have gathered; for the sponsor, misfortune and despair: all this is cleared away by the dö."
Thus, as it is taught, the dö is offered to avert all misfortune and despair.
Finally, there was the offering of the averting torma. This is a slightly wrathful activity, but it is not an effort to liberate or kill another individual. Rather, the averting of obstacles ritual is performed in order to pacify the adverse circumstances and obstacles of all beings.
In the Tibetan tradition, this averting obstacle is always performed at the end of the year. It is not only to pacify the obstacles and negative circumstances that have occurred in the past year, but also to avert adverse circumstances and obstacles for the coming year, and bring happiness and well-being.
Hence, the averting torma can be offered with many aims in mind such as, that outwardly all beings may experience well-being in their bodies through no harm to the four elements; and that inwardly they not fall under the sway of an afflicted mind so that whatever dharma they engage in may go well.
"This Secret Accomplishment in which samaya sattva and jnana sattva are indivisible in the primordially secret purity of the five poisons,
Is an inexhaustible storehouse of treasures.
Just from seeing it, difficulties and obstacles are pacified,
From merely reading it, negative circumstances are averted.
If it is meditated, a rainbow body is accomplished in one life.
No one who practices this will not be liberated."
In brief, it is clearly taught in the practice instructions and the teaching notes that for individuals who exert themselves in this practice, not only will temporary obstacles and negative circumstances be pacified, but ultimately the rainbow body enjoyment of space will be accomplished. Hence, it is timely and apropos to perform this offering sadhana now.
Therefore, so that all the outer, inner, and secret unfortunate circumstances and obstacles of all beings may be fully pacified, especially the suffering from this corona pandemic, and that all may be able to partake of the splendor of well-being, happiness, prosperity and Dharma, here in Nepal at Tergar Ösel Ling, led by Kyabje Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, a large gathering of the Sangha has successfully completed the torma offerings of the 29th day, within the Accomplishment Puja of Guru Dorje Trolö.
