17,000-year-old picture of a kangaroo has been found in Kimberley area of Australia. Two-meter-long painting made of ocher was found on the roof of a rocky shelter.
Radiocarbon-dating the soil of wasps' nests has revealed that the image is 17,300 years old.
The painting is between 17,500 and 17,300 years old. BBC quoted Damien Finch saying. Damien Finch said that it was rare to find soil of wasps in upper and lower parts of the same painting. Kimberley area is famous for its indigenous rock paintings.
It is said to be the oldest painting ever discovered by scientists in Australia.
