Tamu Lhosar have been successfully celebrated by the Gurung community by bidding farewell to the mouse year and welcoming the cow year.
The Gurung community celebrated Tamu Lhosar on Wednesday with various cultural programs organized by Tamu Hule Chonjardhi Gurung National Council, Kathmandu, as per the tradition of the Gurung community.
Shri Prasad Gurung, coordinator of Tamu Lhosar Main Organizing Committee, said that that according to the tradition of the Gurung community in ancient times, the year was named after 12 animals namely cow, tiger, cat, parrot, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, bird, dog and deer.
The Gurung community celebrates Tamu Lhosar for a week with programs based on various original cultural traditions.
The Gurung community living in the Kathmandu Valley has been celebrating Lhosar jointly for the past 20 years but this year, considering the risk of corona infection, a limited number of people have attended the cultural program by exchanging good wishes by adopting health measures.
