At least seven people died after being attacked by a knife in north-eastern China.
Another seven people were also wounded in the mass stabbing as reported by state broadcaster CCTV. The event took place in Kaiyuan, a small city in Liaoning province
Police have arrested a suspect surnamed Yang, the state-run Xinhua news agency reports, although motive behind the stabbing is still unclear.
The suspect in Kaiyuan began attacking people at random just after 08:00 local time. Police are investigating the case, Kaiyuan municipal public security bureau said in a statement.
Knife attacks in public are not uncommon in China. Witnesses described seeing a man stabbing people seemingly at random. The country has seen related knife attacks in recent years.
