Trump administration in process of handing over power to Biden

Administration of President Donald Trump is preparing to begin process of handing over power to US President-elect Joe Biden. Trump has said a formal handover of power could begin as soon as Michigan President-elect Joe Biden's victory is formally confirmed.

For that, federal body General Services Administration (GSA) has been recommended for "necessary work", Trump said on Twitter.

However, Trump said he would continue his legal battle against the election results. GSA also acknowledged Biden as the "clear winner."

Biden, who was elected president, and Kamala Harris, who was elected vice president, began their interim work without the support of Trump administration.

Biden will be sworn in as president on January 20. Before that, his interim administration should have access to government information and get space and funding from Trump administration for that period of work. Until now, that had not happened.

Trump-appointed administrator Emily Murphy has said she will provide 6.3 million for President-elect Biden. Emily says she has not been pressured by White House to delay proceedings.

Biden's group also said in a statement that transfer of power would begin after meetings with government officials on epidemics and national security issues.
