Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has said that federal parliament and province assemblies should be made vibrant and people-oriented.
Inaugurating the program of exchanging experience and interaction of Federal Parliament and Province Assembly in Kathmandu organized by Secretariat of Federal Parliament on Friday, he expressed the view that parliament would be successful only if sentiments of people were included in drafting of law.
Stating that constitution has provided necessary fundamental rights and embodied all values of democracy, Speaker Sapkota said that expectations of people could be fulfilled through its implementation. Speaker Sapkota pointed out that political parties need good practice and training in democracy.
Speaking on the occasion, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina said that role of all at federal, province and local levels was necessary for continuous implementation of fundamental rights of constitution and socialist-oriented political goals.
Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe said that a debate was needed on practical implementation of provision of gender equality provided by the constitution. Tumbahangphe expressed the view that role of Speaker and Deputy Speaker would be important in law making.
Program is attended by Speaker, Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Federal Parliament as well as Speakers and Deputy Speakers of various states. Conference will last for two days, according to Parliament Secretariat.
