Indian Army Chief General’s visit continuation of tradition: Nepal Army

Nepal Army has stated that visit of Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narawane is a continuation of tradition.

Spokesperson of Nepal Army Santosh Ballabh Poudel said that visit was mainly a continuation of tradition and it would further strengthen ties between two countries' armies.

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narawane is coming to Nepal from next Wednesday. Indian Army Chief General Narawane is coming on a three-day visit to Nepal at formal invitation of Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa.

Although there is no formal program on the first day of his visit to Nepal, on the second day he will pay homage at Veerasmarak at Sainik Manch Tundikhel. General Narawane is also scheduled to inspect a military guard at army headquarters.

On the same day, Chief of Army Staff Thapa is scheduled to hold a formal meeting with his counterpart General Narawane, said spokesperson Poudel. During the visit, General Bidhya Devi Bhandari will confer honorary title of Maharathi of Nepal Army on General Narwane

There has been a tradition between Nepal Army and Indian Army to confer honorary Maharathi status on military chiefs of each other's countries.

On the third day of his visit, he will participate in an interaction with students at Army Command and Staff College in Shivpuri. A four-member Indian Army team led by General Narwane is scheduled to return home on Friday after completing a three-day visit to Nepal.
