World Handwashing Day celebrated with a hand washing program

World Handwashing Day is being celebrated in Nepal on Thursday by giving information about hand washing with soap and water in different places and hand washing program.

World Handwashing Day is being celebrated in Nepal with the slogan "Hand hygiene is for everyone, soap and water are always together".

On the occasion of World Handwashing Day, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari said that it was essential to spread the message that hand hygiene should be used to prevent the spread and infection of COVID-19.

In a congratulatory message on Thursday, President Bhandari said that the three levels of government need to work in coordination to formulate a short-term, medium-term and long-term strategic roadmap on hand hygiene to save themselves and others from COVID-19.

Washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds can reduce respiratory and pneumonia infections and diarrhea, and prevent bacterial infections such as Ebola, Hepatitis and SARS.

World Handwashing Day has been celebrated in Nepal since October 15, 2008.

On the occasion of World Handwashing Day, a one-month hand hygiene campaign is being conducted for all across the country in coordination with Ministry of Health and Population and Ministry of Drinking Water in partnership with all three levels of government and stakeholders.
