Kyrgyzstan president Soronbe Jinbekov resigns

President of Kyrgyzstan Soronbe Jinbekov resigned on Thursday.

Jinbekov has resigned amid fears of clashes between protesters and security forces. Following the October 4 election, Kyrgyzstan is still in a state of agitation. Also last week, Jinbekov announced his resignation.

However, after Jinbekov was elected in Wednesday's parliamentary election, Jinbekov announced his acceptance. Jinbekov is considered a nationalist leader in Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian country bordering China, has seen political instability for years. Country also has large Canadian-owned gold mines near Russia.
