Vishwakarma’s worship being done methodically

Today, on the day of Kanya i.e. Ashwin Sankranti, Kaligarh is celebrating Vishwakarma Day by worshiping Vishwakarma.

This day is celebrated in various factories by worshiping the sand idol or picture of God Vishwakarma. This day is celebrated by specially decorating the factory and involving workers.

There is a religious belief that after Lord Krishna was afflicted by demons in the Dwapar era, Vishwakarma hid him in the middle of the sea as a 'gate of distinction'.

Prof. Dr. Ram Chandra Gautam, Chairman of the Nepal Panchang Adjudicating Committee, says that since the construction of 'Bheda Dwarka' in the middle of the sea in one night, Vishwakarma has been considered as a successful architect and has been worshiped since that time.

Dwarka is also considered as one of the guardian deities of four directions of ancient India. Vishwakarma's 'Gate of Distinction' is still believed to be in the middle of the sea in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Vishwakarma is also considered as a specialized expert in architecture. Architect Shiva Pokharel says that he is believed to have prepared a book on architecture called 'Vishwakarma Prakash'.

In this remembrance, Kaligarh of Nepal today worships Baba in Vishwakarma and respects his erudition and believes that if they does so, they will also get the virtue of Vishwakarma.

Architects even celebrate this day as Vastu Day in memory of the author and scholar of the book Vastushastra.

Recently, there has been a renaissance of architecture in Nepal as well. In one of the four sub-vedas, the subject of architecture is mentioned.
