Banke police have arrested two persons with 10 kg of opium.
The District Police Office, Banke informed that two persons were arrested while they were being brought from Dang district to Banke district on Monday. Police said that 10 kg of opium was recovered from their bag.
Police said that they were arrested from Kushum, Rapti Sonarigaun Municipality-1 of Banke district. According to the police, they were smuggling opium into Kushum Bazaar on the basis of special information.
Dhan Bahadur Sen, 53, of Rukum Putha Uttarganga Gaonpalika-8 and Basanta Ghartimagar, 24, of Dang Dhorahi Sub-Metropolis-19 were found walking on the road at Kushum in Raptisonari Gaonpalika-1. Banke, informed Police Chief Om Bahadur Rana.
According to the Sub-section (3) of Section 14 (6) of the Narcotic Drugs Control Act, 2033 BS, they can be imprisoned for 15 years and fined Rs 5 lakh to 25 lakh.
