The patriarchy, i.e. sohra shraddha starting from Ashwin Krishna Pratipada every year, has started from Wednesday.
Since the deceased father will be honored with tarpan, sidda and pinda on sixteen dates, it is called sohra shraddha.
According to the Vedic Sanatan Hindu classical tradition, father is remembered with reverence and devotion before performing the festival and performing great deeds.
Pashupati also pays homage to his father at the confluence of Gokarneshwar Uttargaya, Nuwakot and Rasuwa in the northeastern part of Kathmandu Valley, Batravati, Devghat and Triveni.
There is even a classical belief that father lives in hope at this time. Shraddha is celebrated on the basis of religious belief that one's sense of responsibility towards one's father is fulfilled and that one is freed from one's debt.
Vedic Sanatan Hindu devotees will perform Nandimukhi Shraddha, Ekoddishta Shraddha on the date of death of their father, Parvan Shraddha in Sohra Shraddha, Parvan Shraddha in memory of the deceased in Sohra Shraddha and Tirtha Shraddha in Tirtha.
