Kulman Ghising urges supporting protesters to stop-reminding the need to be safe during ongoing pandemic

Retired Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, has appealed to the public not to protest in his favor considering the Corona epidemic.

Recently, there has been an increase in public demonstrations and police repression in various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, demanding Kulman's reappointment to the authority.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Ghising noted that his attention had been drawn to the protests.

"My serious attention has been drawn  to the recent protests in various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, the federal capital, demanding my reappointment as the executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority," Ghising said in a statement.

Ghising has urged all not to hold demonstrations in the streets as the country is facing Covid-19 crisis.

"I have successfully completed my four-year term by fulfilling the responsibility given to me by the government when I was appointed as the executive director," he said.

Stating that the entire right to appoint the executive director of NEA is vested in the Government of Nepal, he expressed confidence that the necessary decision would be taken in due course.
