CPN Standing Committee meeting continues

CPN (Maoist) Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) is underway at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

Meeting is discussing the proposal prepared by the chairpersons KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Shortly after the meeting began, Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli walked out of the meeting. One of the participants informed that Oli came out by assigning another chairman Prachanda to chair the meeting.

Report prepared by Dispute Resolution Task Force was tasked by the Secretariat meeting on September 3 to prepare a consensus proposal by including views expressed by the leaders there.

The proposal was sent to the standing committee members for study two days ago. Meeting is likely to end on Friday.

Controversy erupted after a majority of members demanded Oli's resignation at a meeting of the standing committee on June 29 after the prime minister's remarks.

The meeting was affected after Prime Minister Oli recommended the end of the parliamentary session while the standing committee was meeting in Baluwatar on July 3.Since then, the meeting could not be held despite repeated dates.
