Angrita Sherpa's funeral with national honors

World record holder Angrita Sherpa has been laid to rest with national honors.

Sherpa, who successfully climbed the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, 10 times without oxygen, was buried at Teku Dobhan according to Buddhist tradition.

Earlier, on behalf of the government, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai honored Sherpa Gumba Buddhism by hoisting the national flag on his body.

The council of ministers on Tuesday decided to bury Sherpa, who died at the age of 72 in Jorpati at 10 am on Monday. On the occasion, Minister Bhattarai said that the contribution of Sherpa in making history will always be remembered.

Angrita Sherpa, who set a world record by climbing Mt. Everest for the 10th time without oxygen, died on Monday. Born in Thame, Solukhumbu, Sherpa is known as the 'Snow Leopard'.
