MBBS doctors working in private hospitals in Birgunj have warned to resign on Tuesday if the demand is not addressed by Monday evening.
The 150 MBBS doctors working in the private hospital had given an ultimatum to the District Administration Office, Nepal Physicians Association, Association of Private Hospital Institutions of Nepal and the self-employed hospital on Bhadra 1 to address various five-point demands.
They demanded a minimum salary of Rs 65,000, health and life insurance of Rs 2.5 million, quarantine while working in the hospital, provision of personal protective equipment as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization and free treatment from the hospital in case of corona infection.
However, Dr. Vivek Yadav, vice-president of the Medical Officers' Association of Birgunj, said that they were preparing to resign on Tuesday as none of the concerned bodies had called for talks to address their demands even after the seven-day ultimatum.
He also informed that the doctors would submit their resignation letter to the hospital administration.
“The seven-day ultimatum is over. So far we have not been called for dialogue and discussion," he said. "We will wait until Monday evening” Annapurna quoted him yesterday.
