Viral Video Man shaved in Varanasi turned out to be Indian, Offered Money For Head-Shave Stunt

The police have found the person whose head was shaved off and ‘Shree Ram’ written on it. Police have said that he is an Indian citizen, unlike claims online that he was Nepali. The video of that incident had gone viral and generated outrage in Nepal.

After the days following Nepal’s PM Oli’s claims about Ayodhya, on Thursday members of Vishwa Hindu Sena had shaved his head and written ‘Jai Shree Ram’ on it.

On Saturday, police claimed success in finding the person in the viral video. The person was found to be living in government quarters in Bhelupur, Varanashi. Both his parents used to work there and his brother had been given a job there after his mother’s demise.

He informed that he worked at a Varanasi Saree shop until the start of lockdown after which he was unemployed and was short of cash. On Thursday, Arun Pathak’s friend Rajesh Rajbhar and a barber Jay Ganesh approached him and asked him to go to Ganga Ghat.

He knew Arun Pathak and the barber from before. There he was offered INR 1000 to shave his head and write ‘Jai Shree Ram’ on it. Considering his cash shortage, he agreed and allowed the video to be shot.

The police have arrested the barber along with two others involved in the incident. However, the main culprit Arun Pathak is on the run.
