Three Children Die Due To Drowning in Bhadrapur

Three children have drowned in a pond dug at Kamaldhap Tourism and Wetland Construction Site in Prithvinagar of Bhadrapur Municipality-2.

Locals have alleged that three children drowned due to the negligence of the construction company. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa.

The deceased have been identified as Ankush Tamang, 10, son of Anil Tamang of Digaun, Bhadrapur-2 and Karan and Arjun Thami, 14 and 12-year-old sons of Kamala Thami of Bhadrapur-2. They had gone fishing and swimming in a pond dug at Kamaldhap Tourism and Wetland Construction Site on Wednesday afternoon.

The three children, who had gone home without telling anyone, were searched by their relatives after they did not return home till late in the evening. The body of Tamang was found floating in a pond at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday. After the body of Tamang was found in the pond, police and locals started searching for the other two children.

According to DSP Thapa, the police team deployed from Jhapa Police Office found the body of Thami brothers buried in the same pond on Thursday morning.

Relatives and locals of the victim have expressed outrage after the incident. According to Asha Tamang, a relative of the deceased, three children died due to negligence of Bhadrapur Municipality, Kamaldhap Tourism Area Development Committee and a construction company.

According to Bhadrapur Mayor Jeevan Kumar Shrestha, the victims have demanded one million rupees compensation and employment for the families of the deceased. He said that the issue would be resolved after discussing the demand.
