Indian News Channels Banned By Broadcasters In Nepal

Indian news channels that broadcast misleading news against Nepal's nationality and self-respect have been banned in Nepal.

The companies have decided to stop broadcasting such channels automatically saying that they have aired exaggerated content about Nepal in association with China.

Multi System Operators (MSOs), foreign channel distributors, have stopped broadcasting Indian news channels in Nepal since Thursday. Customers of the channel had been urging the distributors to shut down such channels after misleading news against Nepal started being aired on them.

Dishome, Mega Max, DSN, My TV and others have collectively decided to stop broadcasting Indian news channels including Aajtak, Zee News, and ABP News.

According to Sudip Acharya, managing director of Dishome, except for the government-owned Doordarshan and some business televisions, television channels broadcasting misleading news against Nepal will not be seen in Nepal from Thursday evening.

Broadcasting of Indian entertainment and sports channels will remain the same.
