Protest in Kathmandu to reduce tariff

Ten different organizations and organizations, including the tenant society, have staged a sit-in in Kathmandu demanding reduction of business tax, house rent, fees of educational institutions, electricity, drinking water and internet tariff.

The Tenants Concern Society Nepal, Nepal Hostel Association, Federation of Health Sciences Entrepreneurs, Federation of Medium Business Entrepreneurs and Retail Entrepreneurs Association have formed a Corona Victims Struggle Committee and staged a sit-in at Maitighar in Kathmandu on Friday.

Bishnu Jung Basnet, president of the Tenants' Concern Society Nepal, said that the sit-in was organized demanding repatriation of Nepalese stranded abroad, timely provision of fertilizers and seeds to farmers, maintenance of scientific tenants and formation of tenant commissions and reduction of interest on banks and financial institutions.

He further added that the coercive program has been resumed as they have been suffering for a long time due to corona and the situation is still not normal.
