Lack of government support for construction of Kabeli 'A' Hydropower Project

Chairman of Kabeli Energy Pvt. Ltd. Pradip Shrestha has complained that the government has not cooperated to move ahead with the construction of the 37.6 MW Kabeli 'A' Hydropower Project under construction on the border of Taplejung and Panchthar.

At a meeting of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee held at Singha Durbar on Monday, chairman of Kabeli Energy Pvt. Ltd. Pradip Shrestha said that the construction of the project was delayed due to the government.

He opined that the problem was also due to the investors in the project. He also urged to mobilize investment saying that it will raise investment after the construction of the project.

The Kabeli A Hydropower Project to be constructed by Kabeli Energy, a subsidiary of Butwal Power Company, had raised investment in Mangsir 2072 BS.

The total cost of the project is  99.5 million. Shrestha urged the government to urge foreign investors to invest.

Although the project aims to generate electricity from January 2076, it is expected to be delayed beyond 2079 due to untimely work.

The committee also discussed the 'Animal Health and Animal Services Council Bill, 2076'.
