After opening unnecessary shops, Nepal Police closed the shops

Police have started closing the shops opened by the traders in Kathmandu.

The shops were closed by the police after the traders opened the shops except those which were declared as essential by the government. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

Earlier, the traders had started opening their shops in the morning on June 7, saying that the government had not given them any option while extending the lockdown date.

After that day, all the shops were open till 11 o'clock. A meeting between the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur also decided not to obstruct the traders from opening shops.

Accordingly, it was decided to recommend to the high level committee formed for the prevention and control of corona. But the government has not yet decided on the modalities of the lockdown.
