Difficult to meet the budget targets

The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, has commented that it will be difficult to meet the budget targets set by the government for the coming fiscal year.

Participating in the general discussion on the annual revenue and expenditure estimates for the fiscal year 2077/78 in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, party MP Prakash Man Singh accused the government of not paying attention to minimizing the impact of Corona.

He said that the budget did not implement the recommendations of the Public Expenditure Review Commission, did not pay attention to reducing unproductive expenditure and did not have concrete arrangements to complete large and national pride projects.

He said that the condition of the project was critical even though the Prime Minister had taken the responsibility of overseeing the progress of the project of national pride and the issue of starting the second phase of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project was not suitable in itself.

CPN (Maoist) MP Surendra Pandey urged the government to pay special attention to the implementation of the budget presented for the coming fiscal year as it is positive.

He said that the spending capacity should be expanded now as the government has allocated budget especially in the health and education sectors in the coming fiscal year.

Rajapaksa MP Rajendra Mahato accused that the budget brought by the government for the coming years was not in favor of the people and was only focused on fulfilling the interests of the ruling party.

He lamented that the budget did not address the issue of providing relief to the people affected by the Corona and did not come up with programs for the poor and the homeless.

He said that the government has forgotten the fact that the country has gone into federalism and has also discriminated in the distribution of resources.
