Government's delay in rescuing Nepalis at risk abroad

The lawmakers presented their view that Nepalese stranded in India and other countries should be classified and rescued in a phased manner.

At a meeting of the International Relations Committee under the federal parliament held at Singha Durbar on Sunday, the lawmakers said that rescue of Nepalese at risk abroad due to the corona virus should not be delayed.

Committee member and former prime minister Madhav Mar Nepal said that many Nepalese had lost their lives abroad due to the corona virus epidemic and the government should take immediate steps to repatriate them.

He suggested the government to start rescue operations based on the situation in which countries are most at risk.

He urged to classify Nepalese to return home in view of the epidemic of corona virus abroad.

He demanded the government to inform that the Nepali embassy abroad had not taken any initiative to rescue him.

Committee member Bhim Bahadur Rawal suggested the government to work expeditiously by spending the amount of the Corona Virus Prevention and Control Fund at the center.

MP Pushpa Bhushal said that the government should bring an emergency package during the pandemic.

Committee member Uma Regmi urged the government to hear the right of Nepalese living abroad to return home.

Chairperson of the committee Pavitra Niraula informed that a report would be prepared including all the suggestions and views and submitted to the government.
