The government has informed that the social security allowance being given to the senior citizens will continue.

Announcing the budget for the coming fiscal year, Finance Minister Dr.Yuvaraj Khatiwada said that Rs 67.50 billion has been allocated for social security.

The finance minister has announced that social security allowances have not been reduced even though the economy has been hurt by Corona.

Elderly, disabled, single women and others will get social allowance. He announced that the government would bear the medical expenses of up to Rs 100,000 for the senior citizens.

Similarly, 400,000 poor families have been provided free health insurance, he said.

He also informed that the distribution of poor identity cards will be completed within the next fiscal year.

He also said that Rs 11.60 billion has been allocated for the Prime Minister's Employment Program. He said that two lakh jobs would be created through the Prime Minister's Employment Program.

Finance Minister Khatiwada said that the immediate relief program brought by the government to ease the adverse effects on the daily life of the people due to the prevention and control of COVID 19 would be continued as long as there is a risk of infection.

He informed that a separate fund of Rs. 50 billion has been set up to provide wages to the workers and employees of small and medium enterprises and corona affected tourism businesses and to provide loans at 5 percent interest for running the business.

The fund, which will be operated through the National Bank, will have funds from the government and government-owned public institutions and donors, said Khatiwada.
