The country's economy is being affected by the corona virus

The government has presented the Economic Survey of the Fiscal Year 2076/77 BS in the Federal Parliament.

Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada presented the economic survey for the current fiscal year in the House of Representatives on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Khatiwada said that the corona virus has put a lot of pressure on the economic indicators.

Giving information about the economic situation, policy implementation and development for the first eight months of the current year, he said that all economic activities of the country and the country's economic growth rate have shrunk due to COVID-19.

He said that Nepal's economic growth rate will be 2.3 percent in the current fiscal year. Earlier, the Central Statistics Office had projected 2.27 percent in the current fiscal year. The government had set a growth target of 8.55 percent in the current fiscal year budget.

He informed that the per capita income of Nepalese is 1,085 US dollars and the outstanding public debt of the government is 1.139 trillion rupees.

He said total investment had declined by 3.4 percent. Absolute poverty, which is 18.7 percent in the country, has been reduced to 16.67 percent this time, he said. 

Stating that the government has worked intensively in various sectors, he said that 23,334 kilometers long roads have been constructed across the country.

Similarly, 90 percent drinking water and 100 percent people have access to health care, he said.
