Monks performed the Puja of White Tara for the last 7 days. This is the second official long life puja held for Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

This puja was offered on behalf of FPMT centers, projects, services, study groups, and students at Kopan Monastery, on April 19.Starting from 12th April, for seven days sadhana was conducted leading up to the actual puja on Monday.

She is one of three special long-life deities along with the Buddha Amitayus and Ushnishavijaya. White Tara is manifestations of Tara who is white in colour and associated with Health, Healing and Compassion and long life practices.

Accordance with the advice of Khadro-la, Rangjung Neljorma Khadro Namsel Dronme this second of the long life pujas was organized. Preparations by senior monks and Lama Gyupas had begun on April 12.  Khadro Namsel Drönme and senior monks of Kopan hosted the ritual.

Seven days of practices is considered to make the long life puja more powerful and effective. Each day sessions of White Tara practice are offered and maximum recitations of White Tara mantra is carried out. Recitations of Tara mantras are to eliminate obstacles to Rinpoche’s long life.

Zopa Rinpoche said that it is a certainty when a related person genuinely dedicates something it has power to make a great impact. Since long life puja was being offered by sangha with dharmic collection, this will help a lot.

The purpose of the long life puja is for students to purify the mistakes that occur in relation to their teacher, and to create the causes and conditions to continue to receive benefit from that teacher for a very long time.
