Departmental Team Nepal Police Club has made a winning start in the first edition of Kathmandu Mayor's Cup One-Day Men's Cricket Tournament.
Police got off to a good start by defeating Bagmati Pradesh by two runs in a match played at Mulpani Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Chasing the target of 73 runs set by police in an exciting match, Bagmati was bowled out for 70 runs in 27 overs. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Police were all out for 72 runs in 25 overs.
Police has added 2 points in the first game along with the victory. Bagmati Pradesh, on the other hand, started the competition with a defeat.
In another match of same competition held on Saturday, departmental team APF Club has made a winning start.
APF got off to a good start by defeating Tribhuvan Army Club by one wicket on Saturday at TU Cricket Ground. APF completed the target of 236 runs set by Army by losing 9 wickets in 49 overs. Earlier, losing the toss and batting first, Army were all out for 235 runs in 50 overs.
Five teams are competing in the competition. Top two teams in the round-robin competition will play for the title.
Winner of the competition will get Rs 500,000 and the runner-up team will get Rs 300,000. The best player of the tournament will get Rs 50,000. The best batsman and bowler will get 25/25 thousand.
