Foundation stone has been laid for the reconstruction of Kumari Cheh and Kumari Niwas in Patan of Lalitpur.
On Tuesday, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan laid the foundation stone of two historic temples.
For protection, rehabilitation and reconstruction of Cultural Heritage Project in eight districts of Nepal, Indian embassy has pledged Rs 5.8 billion in financial assistance.
Kumari Cheh is one of the 28 cultural heritages being reconstructed as per the same commitment, development and reconstruction work of Kumari Niwas is the second project.
These 28 areas have been identified by Government of Nepal. These projects are being implemented by National Reconstruction Authority and Central Project Implementation Unit (Building).
For the protection and reconstruction of cultural heritage damaged by earthquake of 2072 BS, Kumari Chhe and Kumari Niwas will be protected in accordance with the criteria set by Department of Ancient Monuments and Department of Archeology.
