Election Commission has decided that CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) will remain separate.
Meeting of the commission on Tuesday decided to inform Federal Parliament Secretariat, Provincial Assembly Secretariat and all District Election Offices that CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) are now separate political parties.
Stating that the then Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) was deviated from the decision of Supreme Court, spokesperson of the commission, Raj Kumar Shrestha, said that two parties remained separate.
Spokesperson of commission, Shrestha said that a letter has been written to both the parties to submit a petition to the commission within 15 days proposing the name and symbol of the new party to be formed after the unification within the scope of Political Parties Act.
Meeting of the commission was held on Tuesday regarding the implementation of order / decision issued by Supreme Court on March 7.
Meeting also requested government to revoke information published in Nepal Gazette on June 7, 2008 regarding the registration of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), which was formed by the unification of two parties, and to publish information in Nepal Gazette.
