Health and Population Minister Hridayesh Tripathi has said that vaccine against Covid, which is being procured from India, will reach Nepal within two weeks.
Speaking at a press conference at Ministry of Health on Thursday, Minister Tripathi informed that vaccine will reach Nepal within two weeks as necessary process for the purchase of vaccine has already started.
Minister Tripathi also informed that an advance payment has been made to Serum Institute of India for the purchase of vaccine.
Ministry is about to procure 2 million doses of covsild vaccine produced by Serum. Minister Tripathi also informed that the second phase of vaccination campaign will start on August 8 after vaccine arrives in Nepal.
Minister Tripathi informed that those above 60 years of age will be vaccinated in the second phase. Earlier, vaccinations were given from hospitals and vaccination centers, but now they will be given to the community, said Minister Tripathi.
Minister Tripathi said that ministry has drawn its attention to the letter made public by the doctors' association regarding doctor's consultation fee.
Minister Tripathi said that although ministry had to take further decision in this regard, association did not agree with the decision to increase fee alone.
Nepal Medical Association and Association of Private Health Institutions Nepal (AFIN) had decided to increase doctor's consultation fee from Wednesday.
Similarly, Minister Tripathi informed that government has started an initiative to minimize the services of health workers working in private health institutions.
