Government has decided to vaccinate senior citizens against COVID-19 from March 7. A meeting of Incident Command System held at Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday said that citizens aged 60 years and above will be vaccinated from March 7, informed Jageshwar Gautam.
'Covidshield' vaccine against Covid-19 provided by Government of India has been used since January 30.
In the first phase, health workers, security personnel working in the front line, drivers and co-drivers of ambulances and hearses, and women health volunteers were vaccinated from January 3 to 4.
People in the second priority have started vaccinating district level government office employees, bank employees, journalists and municipal employees since March 15.
Earlier, officials, staff and journalists of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu were also vaccinated from January 11 to 12.
According to Ministry spokesperson Dr. Gautam, 263,482 people have been vaccinated so far. Spokesperson Gautam said that 84 percent of those who were given priority in the first phase have been vaccinated.
72 percent in Province 1, 84 percent in Province 2 and Bagmati Province, 100 percent in Gandaki Province, 84 percent in Lumbini Province, 72 percent in Karnali Province and 91 percent in Far Western Province have been vaccinated in the first phase.
Spokesperson Gautam has also requested to be vaccinated safely as the vaccine is safe.
