There has been a protest in front of Immigration Department saying that Department of Immigration is going to decide that women under the age of 40 need the recommendation of their family and ward when they go abroad alone.
Stakeholders staged a protest in front of department office on Thursday. They have called for the removal of the recommendation system, saying it discriminates between men and women.
Meanwhile, department has clarified that suggestions have been received from internal investigation task force but no decision has been taken so far.
Department said in a statement that recommendations were needed for women traveling alone for the first time in high-risk countries such as Gulf and Africa.
Similarly, department has also suggested that recommendation of family and ward may be required for women who do not even have general information about their journey.
