The Nepal Communist Party faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" and Madhav Kumar Nepal has called a nationwide general strike on Thursday against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.
Speaking at a press conference at the party's Parisdada office on Wednesday, Pampha Bhusal, co-coordinator of the Central Struggle Committee, said that a general strike has been called for tomorrow.
Bhusal said schools, factories, public sector and transport would be shut down whereas examination scheduled earlier will not be stopped.
As the Oli government appointed over 30 officials of various constitutional bodies without a parliamentary hearing, the party modified its protest programmes and decided to resort to the strike.
