Today is the birthday of Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche. Rinpoche is a lineage holder of the Great Perfection of Wisdom. He was born in Tibet, where he began training in Buddhism at the age of five.
He has been recognized as the reincarnation of enlightened Tibetan master Gedun Chopel. From forty-two Buddhist masters, he received the transmissions and teachings of the Sutras, Tantras and Shastras. His root masters include Khenchen Padma Tsewang, Drupchen Chatral Chochyab, and Guru Dechen Namdrol.
He studied and taught at the Dzogchen Shri Singha. he meditated in the Siltrom Mountain caves in Tibet. He Continuously studies and practices with diligence being patient, disciplined, and generous.
Rinpoche is the thirty-third holder of the Dzogchen lineage. Currently, He is Lama of Dzogchen Monastery. Dzogchen Monastery was founded by Pema Rigdzin, 1st Dzogchen Rinpoche (1625-1697) in 1684.
It became especially renowned for its Sri Singha Shedra after the monastery was destroyed by an earthquake in 1842. Khenpo Pema Vajra, Patrul Rinpoche and Jamgon Ju Mipham Gyatso lived and taught at Dzogchen Monastery.
This eventually grew into the largest Nyingma monastery. Dzogchen Monastery was also one of the most famous centres of lama dancing. Today the Dzogchen monastery is established in India and Nepal.
He is a Professor of the Dzogchen Shri Singha University, Spiritual Leader of Dzogchen Shri Singha International. He also Founded the Dzogchen Shri Singha Dharma Centers and is Director of Dzogchen Shri Singha International Charitable Organizations.
He is the author of thirty pulse books. He currently teaches Dharma and gives training to thousands of students, in more than forty countries.
Rinpoche takes active participation in social work as well. Rinpoche takes care of many Tibetan refugees in Nepal and India. Through Rinpoche's efforts, the children have been sponsored for their education.
Rinpoche spends most of his time travelling and spreading the Dharma around the world. He has a thorough understanding of the sciences of the Buddhist tradition and is learning modern sciences, medicine, as open to other religions.
