On the 14th Parinirvana anniversary of, 25th Chogye Trichen Rinpoche Ngawang Khenrab Thubten Legshey Gyatso, Sakya sangha and monasteries commemorated rituals and prayers.
Rinpoche was born in Tsang in 1920 and was recognized by the Thirteenth Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of the previous Chogye Rinpoche of the Nalendra Monastery
A special Tibetan Buddhist prayer service was held to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche. This is an important event honouring and renewing one's spiritual commitment.
His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche was one of the most important teachers of all Tibetan lineage holders including HH Sakya Trizin. He is the patron saint and the personal teacher and guru of many Lamas, Rinpoche and many students.
His Eminence travelled to different nations including Australia. He came there three times in 1996, 2003 and 2006 and in his visit he opened and consecrated different dharma centres including Virupa and SIBA. His Eminence Khöndung Asanga Vajra Rinpoche led his students for prayers.
His Eminence Khöndung Asanga Vajra Rinpoche has a special connection with His Eminence Chogye Trichen. Despite being a renowned lama, Chogye Trichen Rinpoche was very kind to Asanga Rinpoche. Chogye Trichen Rinpoche several times addressed Asanga Vajra Rinpoche as 20th century's greatest Lamdre master Gaton Ngawang Lekpa Rinpoche. Thus Asanga Vajra Rinpoche is one of the reincarnations of Gaton Ngawang Lekpa Rinpoche.
H.E.Chogye Trichen Rinpoche has composed the long-life prayer for Asanga Vajra Rinpoche.
Having received teachings and blessings from His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, Asanga Vajra Rinpoche regards Chogye Rinpoche as his guru. Thus, he takes all the chance to pay homage in remembrance of this great master.
Chogye Trichen Rinpoche founded the monasteries of Tashi Rabten Ling in Lumbini and Jamchen Lhakhang(Maitri Gumba) in Boudhanath. He passed into Parinirvana in Kathmandu in January 2007. He remained in tukdam (luminous meditative state) for fifteen days.
