The Nepal Export Council has stated that the corona epidemic has had a negative impact on Nepal's export sector.
Holding a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday in connection with the Fifth Export Day-2077 BS, the Council said that Nepal's exports have increased marginally but the situation is not satisfactory.
As of the end of the current fiscal year, Nepal's imports are stated at Rs 42.29 billion and exports at Rs 40.20 billion, according to the council.
Chairman of the council Hari Bahadur Karki said that problems such as high air fares, lack of skilled manpower and high bank interest rates have had a negative impact in the export sector.
He informed that the 5th Export Day is being celebrated on the 22nd of Poush with the slogan of improving the export trade and the basic foundation of the national economy.
Karki said that the export day is being celebrated to show the problems and business solidarity among the export traders, to make the import-oriented market export-oriented and to draw the attention of the government and all stakeholders.
The council has also stated that the day is being celebrated with the objective of establishing good relations between exporters and businessmen.
