His Holiness the17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje is giving series of Dharma Talks on Four Dharmas of Gampopa. His Holiness Karmapa gave preaching from Monday, December 28. This series will conclude on
January 4. Initially, the program was planned for 7 days, but Karmapa announced that the teachings would be extended by an extra day. His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa gave a talk in Tibetan. This was translated into Chinese, English, French and Spanish. Talk could be attended through Karmapa’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel named - “Karmapa”.
Karmapa taught two ways to make ‘Dharma go along with Dharma’. First one is to meditate on death and impermanence, the other is to meditate on karma, cause, effect and the faults of samsara. Karmapa Compared karma and interdependence to a game of chess, he reminded us that each piece in the game plays a role and has power and influence in the final result.
Rinpoche mentioned “When we die, our self-aware primordial awareness will only be accompanied by our virtuous and negative karma. It is not possible to encounter karma we have not done. It is not possible for even the slightest karma you have done not to be experienced.”
Regarding defects of samsara, Karmapa says “Even in the best of human and god realms, there is birth, ageing, death and so on. Protecting what you have, crossing paths with hostile enemies and losing loving friends... Wherever you take birth in the six realms, there is only suffering. Until you feel this and reach a level of utter revulsion, the Dharma has not gone along with Dharma.”
Karmapa mentioned Milarepa’s teachings to Gampopa on secret mantra, tummo and instructions for the future generation. He also talked about the scenario of Milarepa’s final instructions where he shows his bare buttocks to Gampopa.
Karmapa gave the definition of the word ‘guru’ and ‘lama’. He also briefly talked about the existence of future lives or not.
