Chakrasamvara Puja being led by Kyabje Drukpa Thuksey

The annual Chakrasamvara Puja is being led by Kyabje Drukpa Thuksey. Puja is being held at Druk Sang-Ngag Choling Monastery in Darjeeling. Thirteen deity Chakrasamvara sadhana had been performed annually. This year also this puja is taking place.

This year's event is private due to health precautions. Senior chant masters led the puja.

All the Monks are busy preparing for the annual Chakrasamvara puja at Druk Sang-Ngag Choling monastery. Some are assigned to make Toram, others to prepare shrines and many more. They are also preparing a sand mandala of Chakrasamvara. Mandala will contain different seed syllabus for different deities.

In Chakrasamvara teachings, Lord Buddha proclaimed that desire is the most potent form of delusion in our realm. According to the Heruka Tantras, Lord Buddha manifested as the sacred union  Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini on the Himalayas. Simultaneously, he also manifested an entire accompanying retinue consisting of 61 deities and then turned the dharma wheel of Heruka Tantra.

Heruka and Vajrayogini are classed as a single deity since they are in nature inseparable from each other. The tantric practice is said to transform desire as a means to eradicate attachment, hatred and ignorance. Heruka’s practise is the process of entering enlightenment from transforming desire.

Since there are no delusions in an enlightened state, even though using desire once we reach enlightenment. It is said that all of us have the innate qualities of Heruka within. When we realise this clear light mind, we awaken to our true nature. Thus, keeping in mind this point, Chakrasamvara ritual is carried out every year.
