The Birthday Celebration of Venerable His Eminence Drubwang Sonam Jorfel Rinpoche is being celebrated in Vietnam.
His Eminence Drubwang Sonam Jorfel Rinpoche is turning 83 on 21 January 2021.
Rinpoche is dedicated to bring joy and happiness with his teachings on peace and harmony fused with his genuine practices of love and compassion. Students of Rinpoche offered prayers for Rinpoche's long life and excellent health.
From 19th and 20th January 2021, Rinpoche bestowed Lama Chodpa, Achi and Dzambhala transmission. This was followed by Lama Chodpa Bum Tsog offering puja. The puja and transmission took place in Loc Uyen Pagoda.
On 21 January 2021, Rinpoche's birthday is celebrated in Dalat and there will also be an offering of Mandala. The celebration is also being aired live via Zoom and Facebook page.
Lama Sönam Jorphel was born in 1939 in Ladakh. At an early age he began to recite sutras. When he was eight years old, he ordained.
In 1954 he went on a pilgrimage to the Buddhist holy places in India and travelled via Sikkim into Tibet.
In Tibet he learnt the important, traditional things like the making of tormas, sand mandalas, the playing of ritual instruments etc.
In 1959, Rinpoche returned to Ladakh, to continue his education. From 1983, Rinpoche began his trip to Europe. During his stay he gave teachings on Sutra and Tantra.
He gave individual advice to remove wrong mental concepts and gave refuge. He gave numerous empowerments. His teachings include the profound Fivefold-Path of Mahamudra.
Sönam Jorphel Rinpoche has students throughout the whole world. He instructs yogis and monks in Ladakh, India and Nepal and leads a monastery in Kathmandu.
Currently he leads the Monastery of Rinchen Paldri in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal.
Students from all over the world could join prayers and wishes to accumulate merit, avoid negative actions and focus on practice.
Birthday Celebration on 21st January is scheduled at Hotel Colline Dalat, Phan Bội Châu.
First part of the event is scheduled for 10am to 1.30pm Vietnam Time which is 8:45am in Nepal.
These especially three daylong events are organized by Drikung Kagyu Samten Ling Meditation Center, Vietnam.
