During a special meeting of the National Assembly on Thursday, he argued that the CPN (Maoist) chairperson could not resolve the dispute even though it was natural for the party to have inter-party struggle and debate.
Stating that there was no justification for the split of the party, Gautam expressed the view that his efforts to improve the working style of the party leaders were not successful.
He also complained that he had to act as an opponent for various reasons. He said that he had been trying to preserve the party unity lately and had also failed the no-confidence motion.
He said that the issue related to the dissolution of the House of Representatives was under consideration after it was taken to the Constitutional Court of the Supreme Court.
He also argued that the CPN (Maoist) has made the supremacy of the constitution its core principle.
Speaking at the meeting for the first time since becoming a member of the National Assembly, Gautam also thanked the President, the Prime Minister and the then party leaders for nominating him as a member of the National Assembly.
