ANSU, a sister organization of the CPN (Maoist) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, staged a lantern procession in Kathmandu on Wednesday as part of the second phase of agitation against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
ANSU has taken out a lantern procession in the afternoon against the move of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives. The lantern procession started from Maitighar on Wednesday and reached New Baneshwor.
Participants in the lantern procession, which was taken out in the afternoon, wore black bandages on their foreheads. Speaking at a corner meeting organized at the demonstration, ANNISU Co-Coordinator Ranjit Tamang urged the Prime Minister to rectify his mistake in time as the constitution drafted by Nepalis did not give the Prime Minister any right to dissolve the parliament.
He warned that if Prime Minister Oli did not correct his mistake, the caretaker ministers of the Oli government would not be allowed to show their faces in public. He said that Oli's coup could not be legal under any circumstances and urged to rectify the unconstitutional move.
Similarly, UNHCR leader Sudesh Parajuli said that a lantern was lit in the afternoon to convey the message that the Prime Minister has no right to dissolve the parliament in the constitution of Nepal as Prime Minister Oli had dissolved the parliament.
Former Minister Yogesh Bhattarai and others participated in the demonstration. ANSU has announced agitation programs ranging from showing black flags to ministers to burning the Prime Minister's idol.
